Monday through Thursday, and

C2N
IS HERE!!!
C2N = COMMON
COURSE NUMBERING
• What is Common Course
Numbering?
This is a state-wide project
to develop common course
names, numbers and titles
for the same courses within
the Community and Technical
College system.
• Why
is SCC changing to Common
Course Numbering?
To help students! The
changes should help you, the
student, to know that a
course you have taken at one
Washington Community or
Technical College is the
same at another Washington
college, and to know that it
will transfer easily.
Courses that are not listed
as “common” will still
transfer under the Direct
Transfer Agreement, as in
the past.
• When
will the change take place?
Shoreline Community College
will be switching to the new
course names, numbers and
titles beginning Summer
Quarter 2008.
• How
will I know that a course is
common?
Common courses will have an
ampersand (&) in the
department name, e.g. ACCT&
201. Please note that many
of our course names and
numbers did not fit the new
Common Course Numbering
scheme, so courses without
the “&” may have been
changed as well (e.g., ACCTG
171 has been changed to ACCT
190.)
•
Where can I find a list of
old and new course names?
SCC has developed a quick
link on the online schedule
to assist you. From the main
SCC website:
http://www.shoreline.edu/,
go to Quick Links:
Classes-Schedule; click on
Common Course Numbering
Changes and follow the
directions. Or you can type
in the following address to
the website:
www.shoreline.edu/commoncourse.
• Who
do I go to if I have
questions about Common
Course Numbering?
The Registrar’s Office,
206-546-4613 or the Office
of Recruitment & Enrollment
Services, 206-546-4581
Can't
find the class you're
looking for?
Many courses have been
renumbered. Please look at
Common Course Numbering
Changes to see if your class
is now listed under another
number.
Additional Note:
Speech Communication
classes are now called
Communication Studies.
Communication Studies
classes that deal with
digital filmmaking are now
dual listed under the
heading Film/Video.
If you have any
questions, please contact
the Humanities Division.

ADMINISTRATIVE
SERVICES TRANSITION
The duties of the Vice
President for Administrative
Services will continue to be
performed as the position
transfers from Acting VP
Stuart Trippel, who has
served since September 2006,
to incoming VP Daryl
Campbell, who takes office
July 1.
"Daryl and I will be
working together to ensure a
smooth and coordinated

exactly as in the past.
"Although I will be
taking some vacation, I will
be on campus regularly to
direct the business of the

includes working on the
fiscal year 2008-09 budget,
design of the Professional
Automotive Training Center
expansion, and closeout of
the PUB project. I’ll also
be preparing the office to
make Daryl’s arrival as
seamless as possible."

to Stuart on extension 4532,
or Sharon on extension 7859.
HAVE YOU PUBLISHED ANY
URLS?
TSS is renaming pages on the
site to improve our search
rankings, to make it easier
for students to find us, and
to prepare the site for
redesign:
 |
Affected pages include
those on the "core
site," including most
pages that adhere to the
main site look, e.g.
green bar on the left |
 |
We
will contact divisions
before updating division
pages, and will not be
changing faculty pages |
 |
Pages are being renamed
from non-explanatory to
explanatory names, e.g.
from Classes01.htm to
CreditClasses.aspx
|
 |
Pages are being given
the .aspx extension,
making them scriptable |
 |
Pages are being
re-titled, so that if
the current title is
"Shoreline Community
College," the new title
will be something
specific such as
"Current Credit
Classes." |
So we need to know if you
have published any
hyperlinks in printed
documents or elsewhere. If
your hyperlink looks like:
http://www.shoreline.edu/ce
then there is no problem;
the link will work before
and after our changes.
But if it includes the
filename as in:
http://www.shoreline.edu/ce/default.htm
then we need to know so we
can guarantee that the link
will continue to work after
our modifications. The first
link format is preferred
when publishing both to
allow us to make changes as
we need to and because it’s
a web standard.

SCC BASEBALL TEAM GETS
$3,000 DONATION
The Shoreline Community
College baseball program
received a $3,000 donation
from Fred Meyer as part of a
state Lottery winning-ticket
bonus program.
"We’re very excited to
receive this grant," said
SCC baseball coach Steve
Seki, who applied for the
grant this past fall. The
money helped purchase a
portable "Big Bubba Batting
Cage" that the team uses at
their home field at Lower
Woodland Park in Seattle.
"It’s just like the cage you
see being used at Mariners
games," Seki said. The cage,
which rolls into position,
also breaks down for easy
storage.
The money was part of a
$90,000 bonus from the
Washington Lottery system to
the Shoreline Fred Meyer
store, where a winning $9
million ticket was sold in
2007 to a Shoreline man.
Employees of the store
selected 11 local
organizations that support
children and families to
receive donations.
