UPDATE ON PARKING
Yesterday, approximately 250 cars used the Sears parking lot once areas
on campus were filled. Please let your students know that parking in
the Sears lot is free of charge. A parking permit is not required.
Anyone who purchased a $25 parking permit and wishes to receive a refund may do
so within two weeks of the start of the quarter.
Also, please ask students to park their cars away from the
entrances to the Sears building in order to allow their customers to have
access. We will have signs and personnel stationed in the Sears lot to watch
over this situation.
In addition to the new state disabled parking
spaces east of FOSS, we have one space posted as a designated employee
disabled space. Employees who are temporarily disabled can contact the
Security Dept to request this space and to have their license plate number
will be posted with the sign. When the space is not reserved for one
employee, it will revert to a first-come, first-served space for employees
with state issued disability placards or plates and an employee permit.

SEATTLE PI STORY ABOUT THE AUTOMOTIVE PROGRAM
Shoreline putting future mechanics under the hood
Tuesday, September 4
The following story was published in yesterday's Seattle
Post-Intelligencer. Dustin Smith has torn apart the car's engine and
reassembled it. Now the battery is dead. Once he and a classmate
recharge it, they plan to run tests on the car -- checking the speedometer,
for instance -- "to make sure we put it back together right," Smith said
during class earlier this summer.
Smith, 21, is part of a Shoreline Community College program that trains
students to become automotive technicians.
