FASTER HP3000 IMPROVES
SCC IT SERVICES
On
Saturday Sept. 6th, 2003 CIS switched Shoreline to a
faster HP3000 processor to improve service to the campus.
This upgrade was necessary to ensure that student
registrations, web applications, Instructor Briefcase,
DataExpress and other administrative applications
supporting the business of the college would be
operational for fall quarter. The benefits of the faster
processor have been noticeable. Students registering on
the web see information four times faster than before.
Data Express reports run in minutes rather than hours.
The faster processor allows Shoreline to extend the hours
for students and faculty wishing to use HP3000 based web
services. Instructor Briefcase has had fewer problems and
will be available for faculty later in the evening. The
faster processor will also be useful in the Re-hosting
process in 2005. If you have questions about Re-hosting
contact Jack Hanson 4792 or visit http://success.shoreline.edu/rehost/.
