WOMEN'S SOCCER CLINCHES NORTH TITLE
Wins over Skagit Valley, 8-1, and Everett, 4-0, last week gave the women's
soccer team an 8-4-4 record and the North Region title with two games
remaining. Men's soccer, which also beat Skagit, 1-0, and women's volleyball
which defeated Everett, 30-13,30-19,30-23, are still looking to claim
post-season spots. REMAINING HOME EVENTS: Volleyball Crossover Tournament,
Nov 3-4.

SCCANS BOOK DRIVE FOR THE CHILDREN OF KENYA
November
Shoreline Community College Association of Nursing Students (SCCANS) will be
collecting NEW or GENTLY USED children's book (K-12) for kids in Kenya. The
books will be used to start a regional library in Nyanza Province. Books
can be dropped off in Room 2316, in Building 2300. UPDATE: The book drive
will end on 12/8/06.

In this workshop, you will participate in an asynchronous discussion, using
Blackboard’s Discussion Board. You then will create your own discussion
forum, so bring a topic that you’d like your students to discuss. This
workshop is appropriate for faculty who are new to the Discussion Board.

1300 BUILDING FIRE UPDATE
The Shoreline Fire Department has determined that the fire in the 1300
building restroom was set intentionally. If anyone has any information
that may be relevant to the investigation, please contact Randy Stegmeier,
Director of Safety and Security at
rstegmei@shoreline.edu. Please take care in observing anything
unusual and report your concerns to Safety and Security at x4633.
Special thanks to Security Officers, Edwin Lucero and Rob
Bajra, who responded to the fire incident immediately and had two buildings
evacuated before the Shoreline Fire Dept arrived.

SCC SPORTS
It was a dominating week-end for Shoreline's women's teams. Volleyball
started it with a three game win (30-21,31-29,30-26) over Olympic on
Friday. Soccer crushed Edmonds,12-0, on Sat. Men's soccer, however,
continued to struggle to find goals; losing to Edmonds, 1-2 on Sat. Soccer - Skagit here Thurs.

REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT IN ASIA
President Lambert has joined Governor Christine Gregoire and an
80-member delegation of business and education leaders from Washington State
on a trade mission to Korea and Taiwan. Included on this trip are
leaders such as Dr. Paull Shin, former SCC faculty member and current WA
State Senator, Dr. Mark Emmert, UW President, and presidents from Pierce,
Lake Washington Tech, and Bates Technical CC. A summary of the trip
can be read in the
Seattle Times.
President Lambert reports that the trip has been quite enjoyable so far.
He participated in a panel discussion at a trade show in Seoul. While
visiting Boryang, a sister city to Shoreline, Lambert met with the president
of Ajou Motor College and signed an MOU with them that encourages faculty
and student exchanges between our college and theirs. "I
am very proud to have signed the agreement reflecting further our commitment
to collaborate and partner with the City of Shoreline's effort as well as
our need to continue to reach out, " states Lambert. He concludes his
visit to Korea and will travel to Taiwan today.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Thank you to those of you attended the all-campus meeting yesterday. We are
facing a very serious situation with regards to our funding allocation from
the State Board. The impact of our anticipated rebasing is in the range of
$1.1 million to $1.8 million. We will continue to have campus dialog on this
and other enrollment and budget issues.

Dr. Ernest Johnson and students traveled to South Africa where they learned
from former freedom fighters, investigated the impact of and socio-cultural
response to Hip-hop culture and HIV/AIDS, and visited political and social
points of interest such as Robben Island Prison, shanty townships, game
preserves, museums, Mandela's birthplace, and elementary and high schools.
Students will present video images accompanied by selected journal entries.

It was a dominating week-end for Shoreline's women's teams. Volleyball
started it with a three game win (30-21,31-29,30-26) over Olympic on
Friday. Soccer crushed Edmonds,12-0, on Sat. Men's soccer, however,
continued to struggle to find goals; losing to Edmonds, 1-2 on Sat. Soccer - Skagit here Thurs.

REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT IN ASIA
President Lambert has joined Governor Christine Gregoire and an
80-member delegation of business and education leaders from Washington State
on a trade mission to Korea and Taiwan. Included on this trip are
leaders such as Dr. Paull Shin, former SCC faculty member and current WA
State Senator, Dr. Mark Emmert, UW President, and presidents from Pierce,
Lake Washington Tech, and Bates Technical CC. A summary of the trip
can be read in the
Seattle Times.
President Lambert reports that the trip has been quite enjoyable so far.
He participated in a panel discussion at a trade show in Seoul. While
visiting Boryang, a sister city to Shoreline, Lambert met with the president
of Ajou Motor College and signed an MOU with them that encourages faculty
and student exchanges between our college and theirs. "I
am very proud to have signed the agreement reflecting further our commitment
to collaborate and partner with the City of Shoreline's effort as well as
our need to continue to reach out, " states Lambert. He concludes his
visit to Korea and will travel to Taiwan today.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Thank you to those of you attended the all-campus meeting yesterday. We are
facing a very serious situation with regards to our funding allocation from
the State Board. The impact of our anticipated rebasing is in the range of
$1.1 million to $1.8 million. We will continue to have campus dialog on this
and other enrollment and budget issues.

building restroom was set intentionally. If anyone has any information

GLOBAL EYES PRESENTATION - BEAUTY AND THE BEAST:
IMAGES AND IMPRESSIONS FROM SOUTH AFRICA

Dr. Ernest Johnson and students traveled to South Africa where they learned
from former freedom fighters, investigated the impact of and socio-cultural
response to Hip-hop culture and HIV/AIDS, and visited political and social
points of interest such as Robben Island Prison, shanty townships, game
preserves, museums, Mandela's birthplace, and elementary and high schools.
Students will present video images accompanied by selected journal entries.

COMBINED FUND DRIVE-DESIGNATE SCC FOUNDATION
The Combined Fund Drive (CFD) is a terrific way for SCC employees
to help our local communities and receive a tax deduction for your
contribution. The CFD is a great opportunity to invest in the students here
at SCC. You can designate your gift directly to the SCC Foundation, CFD
charity code #315782. Since July, we have served well over 100 students by
providing financial assistance and help with tuition, books, parking fees
and other emergency needs. Without this aid, these students would not be

building restroom was set intentionally. If anyone has any information

Dr. Ernest Johnson and students traveled to South Africa where they learned
from former freedom fighters, investigated the impact of and socio-cultural
response to Hip-hop culture and HIV/AIDS, and visited political and social
points of interest such as Robben Island Prison, shanty townships, game
preserves, museums, Mandela's birthplace, and elementary and high schools.
Students will present video images accompanied by selected journal entries.

COMBINED FUND DRIVE-DESIGNATE SCC FOUNDATION
The Combined Fund Drive (CFD) is a terrific way for SCC employees
to help our local communities and receive a tax deduction for your

REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT IN ASIA
President Lambert has joined Governor Christine Gregoire and an
80-member delegation of business and education leaders from Washington State
on a trade mission to Korea and Taiwan. Included on this trip are
leaders such as Dr. Paull Shin, former SCC faculty member and current WA
State Senator, Dr. Mark Emmert, UW President, and presidents from Pierce,
Lake Washington Tech, and Bates Technical CC. A summary of the trip
can be read in the
Seattle Times.
President Lambert reports that the trip has been quite enjoyable so far.
He participated in a panel discussion at a trade show in Seoul. While
visiting Boryang, a sister city to Shoreline, Lambert met with the president
of Ajou Motor College and signed an MOU with them that encourages faculty
and student exchanges between our college and theirs. "I
am very proud to have signed the agreement reflecting further our commitment
to collaborate and partner with the City of Shoreline's effort as well as
our need to continue to reach out, " states Lambert. He concludes his
visit to Korea and will travel to Taiwan today.

the State Board. The impact of our anticipated rebasing is in the range of
$1.1 million to $1.8 million. We will continue to have campus dialog on this
and other enrollment and budget issues.
