POWER OUTTAGE
LAST EVENING: CHECK YOUR COMPUTERS, CLOCKS AND OTHER
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Last night from approximately 5:35 - 6:30 pm,
the city of Shoreline and the College experienced a power
outtage forcing the cancellation of all evening classes
and events (other than the Prism Concert). You may need
to re-set clocks and other electronic devices. Please
call the TSS helpline if you experience any problems with
your computers. (Please note that we will "fall
back" to Pacific Standard time, so clocks will need
to be re-set in any event.)
EMERGENCY
PROCEDURES
A new ORANGE Emergency Procedures booklet will
be distributed to all employees in the next week. Please
post this booklet in a visible spot in your offices so
that you can find it should you need it. Also, take a
moment to refresh yourselves on the procedures. This information is also posted on the DAAG page
(look to your left)
Please note that should
you need to evacuate your buildings, you should move to
the nearest parking lot. Go towards the perimeter of
campus - NOT the center of campus (i.e.
the Courtyard.) Booklets will also be posted by Safety
and Security in all classrooms and in hallways, on
bulletin boards, etc.
ARE SHORELINE
STUDENTS SATISFIED?
Friday, October 24, 12:30-2:20, Room 1515
Take part in a campus-wide discussion of the finer points
of what students told us in the 2001 Noel-Levitz student
satisfaction survey. Come and hear about an
informal analysis carried out by a subcommittee of
Student Success, looking at responses made to some key
items by particular ethnic groups, programs, etc.
Some of the patterns suggest possible follow-up
explorations: let's talk about following up!
Facilitated by Alexandra Hepburn (FACES Project) and
Bruce McCutcheon (ESL).
ASSESSING OUR
STUDENT'S LEARNING OF THE GEN ED OUTCOMES
Friday, October 24, 12:30-2:20, Room 1801
The Assessment Response Team members are trying new ways
of assessing their students' learning of Gen Ed Outcomes
(GEOs) this quarter. Come see their projects and
consider ways you can build new assignments to measure
GEO learning by your students. You'll also hear
about the project for assessing critical thinking using
WSU's Critical Thinking Scoring Guide. Facilitated
by Pam Dusenberry (Campus Assessment Coordinator).

RECENT
E-MAIL AND NETWORK TROUBLES
Inbound e-mail was delayed and access to
e-mail via the web was sporadic on Tuesday due to
server instability. TSS staff traced the problem
to the SPAM filter software on the bridgehead
mail server. The SPAM filtering software has been
removed pending a patch from the manufacturer.
Many campus users experienced slow booting and
problems accessing the Internet Wednesday
morning. The problem was traced to a rogue server
in a employee's office that was handing out bogus
Internet addresses.
