Help us go to Washington D.C. to the Museum of the American Indian! We have
Native and non-Native Artwork and photography, decorator lamps, dance
shawls, beadwork, a classical guitar, business gift certificates, and many
misc. items. Stuff for kids, too! Refreshments, music, more.
High bidders will be contacted tomorrow evening or on Thursday for

excellent service to the College community. Mary Kelemen will also present
the food service options that will be available on campus with the closing
of the PUB for remodeling. All this occurs on the last day of food service
in the PUB, Wednesday, May 31st at 1:30 pm in the PUB Main Dining Room.
Refreshments will be available.

IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR STUDENTS
Please remind any students that you see that registration for Summer and
Fall Quarters has begun. It's never too early to register for classes!
Tuition for Summer quarter is due within 5
business days of registering. Tuition for Fall will be due by August 15th
for students registering by August 8th, to allow more time for those
registering for Summer and Fall at the same time. After August 8th tuition
is due within 5 business days.

CALLING FOR STAR OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS
Starting Fall 2006, a classified staff member will be
recognized as the Star of the Year and presented with an award during
Opening Week. Any Shoreline administrator, alumni, classified employee,
faculty member, foundation board member, student or trustee may nominate an
eligible classified staff member for consideration.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES HOLDS SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 1
Thursday, June 1, 4-6 pm, Central Conference Room
Shoreline's Board of Trustees will convene a Special Session this Thursday,
June 1, at which time it will immediately convene into Executive Session
to evaluate the qualifications of applicants for public employment and to
review the performance of a public employee. Click

Meredith
Willson’s folksy musical salute to his home state Iowa creates a
delightful picture of Midwestern Iowans in 1912. Traveling salesman and
conman Professor Harold Hill arrives in River City to try his luck. His
usual scam is to sell non-existent instruments and uniforms for a youth
band, collect the money and then disappear before anyone can catch on. The
one thing he didn't bargain on was falling in love. The object of his
affection, Marian the librarian, finds out that he is a fake. Now Harold
must redeem himself in the eyes of Marion and the town. Enjoy many timeless
hits such as “Seventy-six Trombones”, “Gary Indiana”, and the barbershop
quartet harmonizing “Lida Rose.”

Join in this roundtable discussion for online teachers experienced in using Blackboard. Come and trade ideas, cranky stories, etc. about online pedagogy and, to a lesser extent, the technology that facilitates online teaching and learning. Facilitated by: Betsey Barnett, Multicultural Studies, and Doug Reid, Music.

Important Reminder: Payments that you want paid from current FY 2005-2006 allocations must be submitted to the Finance Office by next Thursday, June 1st. Petty cash reimbursements for $50 or less will be accepted by the Cashiers until June 15th for payment from current FY 2005-2006 funds. Thanks to everyone for your hard work!
ATM and STAMP MACHINE ON THE MOVE!
PLEASE NOTE: The Stamp Machine located in the PUB will be moved
to the Bookstore entry area on Friday, May 26th.
The ATM machine will be moved to the Student Lounge (FOSS) on
May 31st. The machine will be emptied of cash the afternoon of
May 30th and should be back in service the afternoon of the 31st.
PUB UPDATE
On May 31st, Specialty Foods will serve its last meal of the academic
year and will begin to vacate the kitchen premises. Food services will
be provided by Whidbey's and a vendor that will locate in the Courtyard.
Dining facilities will be available in the PUB until around June 12th
(approximate date), the Student Lounge, and the 2900 building.
Complete information has been provided by Mary Kelemen, Director of
Auxiliary Services.

all move to new locations around the campus. A website has been

During the SCC Spring Break there was a call for college students to help
rebuild after the flooding and devastation of hurricane Katrina. We
would now like to present this experience to the campus.
11:30 – 12:20 - Aaron Dixon speaks; he is the former Seattle Black Panthers
leader and initiator of the Free Breakfast for School Children program.
12:30 – 1:30 - Malik Rahim will speak about Common Ground Collective, the
grassroots organization he started to help rebuild New Orleans and
in
response to the non-response of our government.

ASIAN/PACIFIC AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

Sundaresan was born in India and now lives in the Seattle area. Her
presentation will include a discussion of her latest novel entitled The
Splendor Of Silence set in India in 1942, amidst the Second World War and
the nationalist struggle for freedom from British rule. She will also share
the role that storytelling plays within a culture, more particularly how it
has influenced and inspired her work.

Featured speaker, Malik Rahim, from New Orleans, at 12:30 PUB. Event, all day, 8:30 to 2:30. Issues dealt with will include racism, violence, corruption, and criminal neglect. Malik Rahim is the co-founder of Common Ground Collective and a dedicated leader in the effort to rebuild New Orleans. Students, teachers, and administrators who embarked on a journey spring break to New Orleans to help rebuild would now like to present this experience and share stories from this life-changing journey. At 8:30AM join Professor Warren's class in room 1508 to hear the historical background to what happened in New Orleans. Beginning at 9:30 AM, in the PUB, there will be hourly events until 2:30. On May 31st, Specialty Foods will serve its last meal of the academic
year and will begin to vacate the kitchen premises. Food services will
be provided by Whidbey's and a vendor that will locate in the Courtyard.
Dining facilities will be available in the PUB until around June 12th
(approximate date), the Student Lounge, and the 2900 building.
Complete information has been provided by Mary Kelemen, Director of
Auxiliary Services.

band, collect the money and then disappear before anyone can catch on. The
one thing he didn't bargain on was falling in love. The object of his
affection, Marian the librarian, finds out that he is a fake. Now Harold
must redeem himself in the eyes of Marion and the town. Enjoy many timeless
hits such as “Seventy-six Trombones”, “Gary Indiana”, and the barbershop
quartet harmonizing “Lida Rose.”

Larry Estrada is professor of ethnic studies and director of the American Cultural Studies program at Western Washington University. And he has just been named one of "The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America" in David Horowitz's book, "The Professors." The list consists of a group of so-called "tenured radicals" such as Howard Zinn, Angela Davis and Noam Chomsky. Estrada is a former United States Marine and at one time served as mayor of Fort Collins, Colo. He is president of the National Association for Ethnic Studies, has been honored with awards from both Republican and Democratic legislators, and has worked tirelessly for years for the rights of all people. He is co-editing a book called Immigration In America Today: A Comprehensive Encyclopedia of Contemporary American Immigration that will be published this June.

DR. LARRY ESTRADA LECTURE: "IMMIGRATION: THE MINUTEMEN AND
THE CONSTRUCTION OF DISINFORMATION"

Larry Estrada is professor of ethnic studies and director of the American Cultural Studies program at Western Washington University. And he has just been named one of "The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America" in David Horowitz's book, "The Professors." The list consists of a group of so-called "tenured radicals" such as Howard Zinn, Angela Davis and Noam Chomsky. Estrada is a former United States Marine and at one time served as mayor of Fort Collins, Colo. He is president of the National Association for Ethnic Studies, has been honored with awards from both Republican and Democratic legislators, and has worked tirelessly for years for the rights of all people. He is co-editing a book called Immigration In America Today: A Comprehensive Encyclopedia of Contemporary American Immigration that will be published this June.

Angela Martinez Dy is an accomplished local poet and spoken word artist who has been writing and performing since the age of fifteen. She holds a double B.A. in Creative Writing and Mathematics from the University of Washington. She credits the nurturing love of isangmahal arts
collective and its audiences for giving her the courage to begin speaking, and now finds her passion in mentoring and teaching other young poets by way of the literary arts organization Youth Speaks Seattle. Angela has performed her poetry on stages nationwide, and has coached the Seattle Youth Poetry Slam Teams to Nationals for the past three years. She is currently the writer-in-residence at Chief Sealth
High School in West Seattle.

Students and the Women's Center are supporting a donation drive for local shelters. A
wish list of needed items is available in the Women's Center and includes items such as laundry detergent, new underwear and socks, feminine products, etc. The Women's Center will also serve as a drop-off site.

His presentation focuses on two major labor strikes, Nestle and Hacienda Luisita, and the consequences that workers face as they challenge the Philippine military-industrial complex. Many thanks to those who participated in last Friday's Shoreline Splash.
This event, sponsored by Student Programs, presented the College's clubs,

GRANT FOR ONLINE TUTORING SERVICES
Shoreline Community College is partnering with Spokane Falls Community College, Centralia College, and Everett Community College in an Online Tutoring Assistance grant for $37,000. The Academic Skills Center, Distance Learning Services, Perkins Tutoring Services, and the Transfer Student Tutoring Program will work together to administer SCC's portion of the grant.
