MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT MOORE
Just recently, I was invited by members of the ACCT presidential search committee for the Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN) to submit my professional credentials for their review.  I spoke with our Board of Trustees and decided to investigate this opportunity. On May 5th, I was named one of 10 semi-finalists.  Then on May 7, I was named as one of four finalists and invited to interview with the committee and the Board of Regents at CCSN.

After interviewing with representatives of CCSN I had concerns regarding my fit with this institution.  I discussed this with my family, our Board Chair and Shoreline staff and I decided not to continue with the process.

When news of this nature reaches a college community, there are generally questions raised about one's motives.  My motives for this investigation were influenced by the recent illness of my father and mother-in-law, both of whom live close to CCSN. I would like to emphasize that after 25 years, I continue to be committed to the mission of this institution and to the faculty and staff who work tirelessly to ensure student success. If you have other questions, please feel free to contact me.

UPDATE ON THE SEARCH FOR VP OF HR
On April 21st, four candidates for the position of VP of HR were interviewed by the HR department and President's Executive Staff.  In addition, open forums were held where members of the campus community had a chance to meet each of the candidates and provide input. Many thanks to the work of the Interview Committee for their efforts in bringing these candidates to our campus.

During this past week, our leading candidate withdrew from our interview process.  President Moore has decided that it is in the best interest of the College to close this recruitment now and re-open it at a later date.  Tentatively this is scheduled for August with a closing date of October of 2004.  Our goal is to conduct interviews in November and appoint a new vice president of HR by January, 2005.

We are happy to announce that Joanne Warner, Director of Personnel Operations has agreed to postpone her retirement and to act as the Interim Vice President of Human Resources and Employee Relations beginning July 1st.
