ACCREDITATION
FOLLOW-UP
Shoreline's last college-wide accreditation
visit was in October of 2002. At that time, we received
nine Recommendations in areas for improvement. Our next
visit, to review our progress on those nine areas, will
take place on Thursday, April 8.
In
preparation for the April visit, the college has written
a report describing what we have done to address each
Recommendation. The report, Interim
Report 2004, has been posted to the
Self-Study website. Please take time to review this
summary report. We will have only one visitor with us
this time, Dr. Jo Ann McDowell, President of Prince
William Sound College in Alaska. She has a series of
meetings already scheduled, but may also be contacting
others once she arrives, so please do your best to assist
Dr. McDowell if she contacts you. Many thanks to everyone
who participated in preparing the report, and in taking
action on the Recommendations.

LONG
DISTANCE USAGE: SCAN AUDIT
A recent audit of the State Controlled Area
Network (SCAN) has found some major discrepancies in long
distance telephone use. Because this is a
state-wide audit and ethics issue, we want to remind you
that SCAN numbers are to be used for state business
only. If, during random audits, we find SCAN or
SCAN plus numbers with personal calls, we will cancel the
card while conducting an investigation to determine if an
ethics violation has occurred. For this month only,
if you receive a copy of your SCAN print-out, please
highlight those calls which are personal in nature and
return it with full payment, including 13% tax. In the
future, more severe consequences may be brought against
scan users who misuse their cards such as permanent loss
of your scan number and, in worse cases, additional
corrective action.

Just a reminder that Spring Quarter begins
March 29th. Enrollment Services has been busy processing
new student applications and registering students. The
online registration system is up and running and ready.
More science and math sections are being opened this

As a

enrollment target for the quarter and the year.
Everyone
can make a huge difference for our new and returning
students by assisting them in finding just one more
class, encouraging someone to enroll this quarter instead
of later, or spending a few minutes finding alternatives
for a student displaced by schedule changes. These small
actions can make a real difference over the next few
weeks. Let's work together to meet our goals. THANKS for

LONG
DISTANCE USAGE: SCAN AUDIT
A recent audit of the State Controlled Area
Network (SCAN) has found some major discrepancies in long
distance telephone use. Because this is a
state-wide audit and ethics issue, we want to remind you
that SCAN numbers are to be used for state business
only. If, during random audits, we find SCAN or
SCAN plus numbers with personal calls, we will cancel the
card while conducting an investigation to determine if an
ethics violation has occurred. For this month only,
if you receive a copy of your SCAN print-out, please
highlight those calls which are personal in nature and
return it with full payment, including 13%
tax. In the future, more severe
consequences may be brought against scan users who misuse
their cars such as permanent loss of your scan number
and, in worse cases, additional corrective action.

for a student displaced by schedule changes. These small
actions can make a real difference over the next few
