PRESIDENT HOLLY MOORE
President Holly Moore chairs the Health Care Personnel Task Force of the
state's Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board. The Task
Force meets this afternoon, June 28, at Highline Community College. The Task
Force, which meets twice yearly, has been charged with the following goals.
 |
The Health Care Personnel Shortage
Task Force was established in 2002 and developed a detailed plan for
addressing health care personnel shortages, including 16 outcome
measures. |
 |
In 2003 the Legislature charged us to
meet twice a year to monitor progress on that plan, and we report
progress to the Legislature annually. |
Each year we have laid out priorities
both for the Legislature and for others and we rely on the commitment of
our state and local partners to carry out the strategies. |
 |
We have seen some improvement in
terms of increasing the numbers of students entering health care
programs, HOWEVER our analysis and changes in the demographic
composition of the state mean we still have more work to do to
recruit, expand educational programs, and retain health care
personnel. |
 |
We also need to recruit a more
diverse health care workforce. |

SOS! We need your help!
Summer is the Puget Sound Blood Center's toughest season with many of our regular donors on vacation and many of our student donors are off for the summer.
Since Sunday, the O- inventory (the universal donor!) has dropped 30% and Puget Sound Blood Center is currently down to only a 1-2 day supply (a stable supply would be 4 days). With the Fourth of July just around the corner, we really need to build up our inventory on all blood types to prepare for the holiday weekend. Please help us help our communities where we live, work and play by giving blood and especially if your an O- donor!
