MESSAGE FROM TSS
Re; PREPARE FOR DST (DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME) CHANGES
In August 2005, the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act,
which changes the start and end of DST as observed in the United States. As
a result, DST will start three weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one
week later on Nov. 4, 2007.
This will affect your calendar items created before updating the DST
setting on your computer.Calendar items created after updating DST setting
on your computer should be fine. TSS has updated DST settings on all
computers running Windows recently. There is no need to update DST setting
on your computer running Windows manually. However, calendar items on this
extended DST period are not automatically updated. Individual calendar
owners are the only ones who can validate that calendars are correct or
not. To minimize confusion during the DST shift, follow these simple steps:
1. Open your calendar and check all meetings scheduled between March 11,
2007 and March 31, 2007, and between October 28, 2007 and November 3, 2007.
2. You have to reschedule single calendar items if the meeting time is not
correct.
3. If they are recurring appointments, you will have to delete them and
recreate them if the meeting time is not correct. They will then adjust
according to the new DST settings.
4. When organizing a meeting invitation during the extended DST period (4
weeks), type the correct meeting time in the subject line or body of the
message - not necessary but recommended because your guest's computer may
not be updated with new DST setting.
5. If your department has check-out laptop computers contact TSS (Ext.5872).
Manual DST adjustment on those laptops may be required.
6. Information for MAC computers will be posted later.

MESSAGE FROM THE STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE
Responses due Friday, Feb. 2
Your input is important to the SCC Strategic Plan. This is your primary
chance to provide input as to what our strengths and challenges are as an
institution. Be visionary - take some time to think about what you like and
what you don't, as well as to dream about what Shoreline might look like in
the future. You can do it in as
little as 10 minutes, and we will keep the exercise open until February
3rd (although sooner is better).
Even if you do not have the time to read the background documents,
please complete the
Strengths
Weaknesses Opportunities Threats exercise
Our Strategic Plan depends on it.
ROBBIE FULKS COUNTRY MUSIC PERFORMANCE
Saturday, February 17, 7:30pm, Shoreline Campus Theater/1600 Building
Robbie Fulks country music performance. Robbie Fulks still writes songs that
make you think and feel and sometimes laugh out loud, while most current
country recordings seem calculated to serve as inoffensive background music.
He's back with a new album Georgia Hard, aimed at country fans that wondered
where their music went. Eighty years ago, when country music was first
recorded, it was rude, funny, soulful and political. Robbie Fulks takes us
back to those forgotten values and reintroduces us to the literacy and
warped humor of songwriters like Shel Silverstein, Bob McDill and Roger
Miller. i.z@mastersofbeat.com

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Re; January All-Campus Meeting
Friday, January 26 at 12:30 pm, Campus Theater
At both the October and December all-campus meetings, the
President's Leadership Team (PLT) presented information
regarding a possible reduction in our budget allocation from the
State Board. This reduction has been confirmed, and the College
must proceed to plan next year's budget accordingly. Over the
last month, all VP areas have discussed possible scenarios to
address this budget reduction, with each VP presenting their
recommendations to the PLT.
At the January 26th all-campus
meeting, we will present information to the campus regarding the
processes and the criteria used in developing these
recommendations. The vice presidents will address their specific
areas, and I will present the aggregated result of these
discussions including a preview of the potential reductions by
employee group.
Please understand that the
information will be presented on Friday in a summarized format.
Due to the sensitivity of the subject matter, we ask the campus
to respect and understand the need to maintain a level of
confidentiality. We will focus on describing our goals,
processes and next steps, but will not discuss the reductions in
detail. A second all-campus meeting will be held on February 2
where more information regarding specific reductions will be
presented.

We will focus on describing our goals,
processes and next steps, but will not discuss the reductions in
detail. A second all-campus meeting will be held on February 2
where more information regarding specific reductions will be
presented.
