Please join the World Dance: Pacific Rim class on February 28th to experience a master class and lecture on the traditional Japanese Performing Art, "Kabuki" by Mary Ohno. CAMPUS CLIMATE TASK FORCE
At the all-campus meeting on Friday, Feb. 18, President Moore announced that she is forming a special Campus Climate Task Force to work with her to review and assess the issues of SCC campus climate and to prepare a long term plan to address the key issues identified.  President Moore has asked the leaders of Student Government, classified staff, and the Federation to forward the names of 4-5 people who, with representatives of the administrative exempt staff, will serve on this Task Force.  These names will be forwarded to the President's  office no later than Wednesday, March 9, 2005.

Task force members will serve for at least one year and must be prepared to participate fully in the work of the Committee.  If you are interested in serving on this Task Force, please contact your constituent representative as soon as possible.  Administrators should contact the president.

Come see what you can do in your Blackboard classrooms with the program Respondus. Respondus allows you to create and manage exams that can be published directly to Blackboard. Exams are created offline in a familiar Windows environment and the software provides many time-saving tools, such as the ability to import existing exams from word processor files or from specific textbook publisher's files. SEASON-ENDING VARISTY BASKETBALL GAMES AND DANCE PERFORMANCES
Saturday
, February  26 at 5:30 & 7:30  pm  in the Gym

Come out and support your Dolphin basketball teams as they take on Bellevue in their final games of the season.  The women play at 5:30 followed by the men's game at 7:30.  The "Caribbean African Jazz and Hip Hop Dance Team" (CAJAH) from the University of Washington will be performing at halftime of both games.  The last game of the season is always a special night so come out and join the fun. Admission is free for all Shoreline CC students and campus employees.

Lindsay Ann Elizabeth Libby
August 26, 1982 - February 19, 2005

Lindsay Ann Elizabeth Libby passed peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her parents, SCC Criminal Justice Instructor Lee Libby and his wife, Diane Libby, brothers, Aaron, (Michele) and Duncan, sister, Kerry, niece and nephews. Lindsay graduated from Seattle Prep High School and was attending Marquette University, class of 2005. She inspired family and friends with her grace and strength and will be remembered forever.


A memorial service will be held at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 722 N. 145th, Shoreline, Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Lindsay Libby Memorial Scholarship, Marquette University, University Advancement, P. O. Box 1881, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53201-1881.

In Technology Support Service’s (TSS) ongoing battle against SPAM, we are testing a new Anti-Spam solution. The device is called the Barracuda Spam Firewall model 300. The device has been in operation since February 10. TSS is very interested in your feed back. Please let us know if you notice any reduction (or increase) in the amount of SPAM you are receiving. There is currently no budget for this device, so we must return it at the end of the 30 day trial evaluation period. TSS’s hope is that this appliance will do a better job of blocking SPAM and that someone will find a budget for it.

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR IVAN BRAGA
The Business Division appreciates the response from the campus community regarding Lyubov Braga, who lost her son in an automobile accident last week. This workshop will look at positive, and even funny, ways to deal with workplace stress. CAREER FAIR
Wednesday, February 16th, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the GYM
Employers seeking new employees will represent approximately 50 companies at the annual Career Fair, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
, Wednesday, February 16th in the gym. Participating companies include Aerotek, Edward Jones Investments, PCC Natural Markets, Evergreen Health Care, the Seattle Police Department and the Department of Transportation.  Workshops include a four hour drop-in clinic for resume critique, an interviewing technique workshop, and a workshop on how to get hired by thinking like the employer.

Stress is considered one of the prime concerns in today's workplace. In 2000, 43% of workers said their jobs were stressful enough to impact their health--and the stress level just keeps rising. This workshop will look at positive, and even funny, ways to deal with workplace stress. Terri McKenzie speaks about stress from the vantage point of years as a full-time professional, a full-time student, wife and mother to five children. Open to all campus employees. Sponsored by the Classified Training and Staff Development Committee.

Employers seeking new employees will represent approximately 50 companies at the annual Career Fair, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
, Wednesday, February 16th in the gym. Participating companies include Aerotek, Edward Jones Investments, PCC Natural Markets, Evergreen Health Care, the Seattle Police Department and the Department of Transportation.  Workshops include a four hour drop-in clinic for resume critique, an interviewing technique workshop, and a workshop on how to get hired by thinking like the employer.

See the latest in both fashion design and hair trends while getting your hair cut for $1 at the annual Cosmo Cut-a-thon and Fashion Show, a favorite event at Career and Technical Education Week at SCC. Cosmetology students give the $1 haircuts while instructors supervise and customers will enjoy a fashion show (on a real runway!) organized and emceed by Kristina Stratis and Yura Burkanov, students from the Fashion Merchandising Program.

TESTING CENTER IS LOOKING FOR AN HOURLY EMPLOYEE
The Testing Center is looking for an hourly person to administer the GED test three evenings a week at the main campus and one Saturday a month at the Lake Forest Park Branch campus.  The person must have a BA, be detail oriented, punctual, and able to work with and keep materials secure and confidential.  The person must be able to work with a very diverse population. SPRING CLASS SCHEDULE
The new Spring Quarter Class Schedule will be delivered to campus on Monday, Feb. 14th.  In order to provide better service to our community, we are mailing approximately 70,000 copies to households on our customer list or in our college district.  Schedules will also be mailed to homes upon request.


The Public Information Office has been urged to make this change in our distribution of the credit class schedules in order to attract, recruit, and register more students this spring.  We are also going to provide postcards to students and staff who would like to send a personal note to those who may be considering enrolling at Shoreline Community College. If you have any questions about our class schedules, please contact Judy Yu at jyu@shoreline.edu.
