Announcements

bulletAugust 8, 2005
After months of meetings, the Climate Task Force has completed their review of the data regarding the climate on the SCC campus and has submitted a report to the Office of the President and to the Board of Trustees.  This report may be downloaded by clicking here.  At a Special Meeting of the BOT on Thursday, August 11, questions regarding this report will be answered by members of the Task Force.

The Campus Climate Task has now been meeting for two months. The members meet weekly, and will continue to do so throughout Summer Quarter, 2005.  Many members have also been working beyond the regularly scheduled 1½ hours per meeting to accomplish the many additional tasks that are necessary to accomplish the assigned charge of the group —to assess campus climate as it relates to teaching, learning, the work environment and management style on our campus, and to present a recommended action plan to President Moore and the Board of Trustees.

On May 27th members hosted the All-Campus Meeting in the Grand PUB Ballroom.  It was an informational meeting to update the campus about what the Task Force has accomplished so far, and to obtain feedback from the campus community about whether or not the Task Force was “on track” with their tasks and plans for future work.  A summary of categorized responses received from the April Campus Climate Web Questionnaire, was presented, along with an early draft for the framework that is being considered for the recommended action plan.

The Climate Task Force would like to thank everyone who participated in the April Campus Climate Questionnaire.  A sub-group of the Climate Task Force has volunteered to review and categorize all responses to the survey. The predominant categories will provide guidance to the Climate Task Force in forming the recommendation for an action plan that will be developed to address con
cerns in the areas of teaching, learning, work environment and management style on campus. The completed, categorized results will be posted on the Climate Task Force website as soon as they are available.

The Climate Task Force will continue to meet throughout the summer and it is our expectation that a plan of action will be recommended and presented to President Holly Moore and the Board of Trustees by the end of the summer.  The Task Force has set up an e-mail box at climate@shoreline.edu and we welcome any comments or questions from the campus community.  Again, thank you for your participation.

The Board of Trustees will hold an all-campus meeting in the PUB Grand Ballroom.  All are invited to attend.  In addition,
an email box has been established for direct contact with the Board.  This account, scc_bot@shoreline.edu , will be open for the next 90 days to receive input from the campus.  The Board will attempt to keep all information confidential; however, as public officials, they must comply if a request is made to provide public records.

bulletMarch 11, 2005
At the March 11 all-campus meeting. participants were asked to give comments to six questions related to the College's campus climate.  If you were unable to attend the meeting or if you did attend the meeting and would like to provide additional feedback, please click here.  You will be asked to give your opinions and recommendations.  If you have any questions, contact Judy Yu at jyu@shoreline.edu.
