MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
ACCREDITATION IS REAFFIRMED
I am happy to
announce that the College has received a letter from the Northwest
Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) reaffirming our
accreditation and stating that Shoreline Community College has made
outstanding progress towards addressing the recommendations that it received
during accreditation visits of 2002 and 2004.
During NWCCU’s recent visit to the College in October 2007, we successfully
provided evidence that the College has made significant progress in all
areas in which major recommendations were made by the October 2002
evaluation team. The major recommendations from the full scale
evaluation visit have been and continue to be, adequately addressed and
integrated into the ongoing operations of the institution.
As a
result, only two additional recommendations were noted in the April 2004
focused interim visit. These two recommendations have been addressed
by Shoreline in their report, and the College has also provided an in depth
review of the many and varied changes within the organization since the 2002
visit.
Congratulations to the entire College for their efforts in this
accreditation review by NWCCU with special thanks to Deans Norma Goldstein
and Tom Moran and Vice President John Backes for heading up this project.
